Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a technology that can remotely read unique identifying information of objects. An RFID system usually consists of four main components: antennas, readers, tags and printers.

One of the key components of the system is the antenna. Antennas are used to transmit and receive radio frequency signals. They are usually placed in a fixed position and are one of the factors affecting the reading distance. Antennas are commonly available in different frequency ranges such as low frequency (LF), high frequency (HF), ultra-high frequency (UHF) and ultra-wideband (UWB). RFID Readers: Devices that Process RFID Signals

 

Readers receive and process RFID signals transmitted via antennas. These devices read and interpret the data from RFID tags and transmit it to a database as needed. Readers can usually be fixed or portable. Fixed readers can continuously track RFID tags in a given area, while portable readers are used for tracking objects in motion in a given area.

RFID Tags: Active or Passive Devices that Carry Identifying Information of Objects

 

RFID tags are small devices that are placed on or embedded in objects. They store information that uniquely identifies each object. Tags are divided into two main types: active or passive. Active tags have their own energy source and have longer reading distances. Passive tags use energy from the reader and therefore have shorter reading distances. However, passive tags are cheaper and are usually used in large quantities.

RFID Printers: Devices that write information on tags

 

 

RFID printers are devices that write unique identifying information on tags. These printers are used in the production of tags or to add new data to tags. For example, once an RFID tag has been placed on a product package, an RFID printer can be used to write information about the product onto the tag. This is of great importance in inventory management and tracking of the product.
